Summer Skin Recovery Guide

Summertime may have come and gone, but the damage from the sun has set in. Sun damage comes in different forms but most people experience freckles, melasma, sunspots, and dehydrated skin. Luckily, there are many ways—from lasers to medical-grade products—to address not-so-sightly post-summer skin issues.

Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL) PhotoFacial's

IPL PhotoFacial's are a fantastic treatment for patients who have developed sunspots and brown spots in the summer sun! This quick, minimal downtime treatment utilizes a laser that targets brown spots, the light from the laser is soaked up by the red blood cells and melanin (pigmentation) in the skin, this will intentionally damage the targeted areas. The damaged pigmentation breaks up and is absorbed by the skin, decreasing the appearance of sunspots/dark spots on the skin's surface. The IPL PhotoFacial treatment reaches the deeper layers of skin, making it ideal for treating #brokencapillaries, #sundamage, and other impurities.

HydraFacial MD

HydraFacial MD is one of the most popular treatments in our office, and is an excellent treatment to get post-summer fun! This no downtime, quick in-office procedure uses patented technology combined with nourishing ingredients to create and instantly gratifying glow. Customize your HydraFacial MD treatment to address sun damage or dehydrated skin with our wide range of medical-grade boosters.

We recommend patients add on the Britenol Booster if you want to address the appearance of dark spots and sunspots for a more even complexion. Key ingredients in our Britenol booster include:

  • Alpha-Arbutin - Brightening agent

  • Vitamin C - Antioxidant

  • Bearberry Extract - Brightener

For dehydrated skin we recommend our patients add on the Dermal Repair Booster by Sente. This boosters key ingredient is Heparan Sulfate Analog (HSA) - a sister to Hyaluronic Acid - HSA goes down to your damaged skin cells and tells them to begin to produce moisture, healing your skin from within.

For best results with these boosters, we recommend that patients receive a minimum of three boosted treatments.

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels are another great treatment option for people who wish to get rid of sun damage. Peels use an acidic solution that is applied to the skin to remove damaged top layers, speed cell turnover, and boost collagen growth for a brighter, more even-toned complexion. Peels can effectively treat issues such as sun damage, rough skin, hyperpigmentation, age spots, acne, fine lines, and wrinkles. Though chemical peels are primarily used on the face, they can also be applied to the neck, chest, and hands. In our practice, we offer The Perfect Derma Peel and the Enlighten RX peel. Dr. Chaudhary will discuss with you your skin concerns and will decide which peel will work best for your specific skin concerns.

Key Benefits of using Retinol Glow Drops:

  • PM product only

  • Bakuchiol acts similarly to retinol and an antioxidant, helping to improve the visible signs of aging.

  • Caffeine enhances antioxidant activity and helps minimize the appearance of redness.

  • Protects against blue light from computers and phones.

  • For best results, use in conjunction with Restore Crème and Sun Protect SPF 50

When using retinol products for the first time, you may find your skin becomes dried out or irritated. At Rejuvenation MD, we urge our patients to apply their retinol products with the sandwich method. This means sandwiching your retinol in between a moisturizer. So the order should be as follows:

1) Restore Crème

2) Retinol Glow Drops

3) Restore Crème
